Daklak is a province whose capital city, Ban Me Thuot, is 350km from Ho Chi Minh City. This is a land of coffee due to basaltic soil, very fertile and propitious to industrial trees. Thanks to coffee growing, local ethnic minorities such as Edeh & M'nong tribes have got a better life. Coming here, tourists will have a chance to drink fermented alcohol from bamboo straws and learn simple life styles based on cultivating and hunting of the highlanders. A journey into this highland city is a journey into the land of discovery.
SIGHTSEEING SPOTS: Draysap Falls, 30km from Buon Ma Thuot, is in the middle of a hardwood rainforest. D'raysap is the name in the Edeh language which means the Fall of Mist.
Lak Lake , located at an altitude of 400m above sea level, is about 56km south of Buon Ma Thuot. The great body of water hemmed between low mountains has been home to many kinds of wading birds for a long time. Emperor Bao Dai built a small palace here, but it is now in restoration. Nevertheless, the lake views are fantastic and the climb up the adjacent hills is well worthwhile. The nearby Edeh & M'nong village is a unique experience.
